As soon as the new dog arrives to his/her new home the dog must be introduced to the restricted areas where it will be permissable for it to relieve itself, other areas where can play , dig, jump, chew and all the other things a healthy dog needs to do .You cannot expect that the dog should automatically respects your valued possessions-- for him everything is a new toy .

The dog needs to be shown where his sleeping quarters are from the outset.he cannot be allowed to sleep in your room even for one night or he will suffer what is known as "separation syndrome" more than is necessary . you must be very firm on this point even though it means that you have to endure your dog's howling for the first 3 or 4 nights .this will eventually subside.

when he first awakes. just like most humans, the first thing he needs to do is relieve himself. this is when it is vital that he is taken to the area/zone designated for his toilet needs.

If you are planning to let your new dog enjoy your living room , it will have to be only under strict supervision so that he does not regard this as one of his areas where he can play. ideally all play should be restricted to the designated play area/zone, which you will choose.

Believe me you don't want to live in a war zone. to avoid this happening don't let your dog make one out of your home. after training ( and a lot of work ) a trained dog can be trusted to have the run of your house and will behave equally as well both when when you are present or not but this can only come about once the zoning training has been completed.

in order to be able to successfully achieve the zoning training and for it to become second nature to your dog , he must be trained "STAY" at command . my obedience course teaches the dog that "STAY" means that he must Stay in the desired place for at least 15 minutes at a time.this allows the dog to learn the self discipline he requires to carry out all other commands you and your family will give him and to become a well behaved and integrated part of the family

Having a dog should be a pleasure not a life sentence .
